About the Workshop

Reformer Workshop 2026 is designed to help Pilates instructors develop a clearer,
more confident and more results-focused approach to teaching Reformer classes.

Led by Nathan Ross Rees, this workshop will explore how Reformer workouts can be
understood and delivered through the principles of resistance training, progressive
overload, stability, complexity and selective cueing.

What to Expect

  • Pre-workshop preparation with a free online course
  • Start the day with a Reformer MasterClass
  • Practice the first principles and training philosophy
  • Exclusive Reformer Academy Instructor Manual
  • Nathan Ross Rees Reformer Academy Certificate

What You Will Learn

During the workshop, instructors will learn the principles behind results-focused
Reformer workouts, including:

  • How Reformer workouts are simply resistance training, using bodyweight or spring tension as load
  • How spring tension determines the targeted muscle group and level of intensity
  • Why each client’s experience with spring tension is relative to their body mass
  • A streamlined teaching method for consistent class delivery across the studio
  • How stability and complexity can be used intentionally within exercise selection
  • How to support mixed ability levels in group classes by controlling how quickly clients fatigue
  • How to integrate progressive overload into your teaching method for ongoing client results
  • Selective cueing strategies
  • Reformer class programming

Workshop Outcomes

By the end of the workshop, instructors will understand how to:

  • Intentionally administer load using a clear loading strategy
  • Adapt load over time to support ongoing client results through progressive overload
  • Adapt stability and complexity in Reformer exercises to meet client needs
  • Intuitively adapt spring tension to suit each client’s body mass

Instructors will also learn how every exercise can be simplified into three key areas:

  • Muscle group
  • Load
  • Progression strategy

This focus empowers instructors to prioritise client results in Reformer classes,
creating more aligned, confident instructors who consistently deliver better client
experiences.

Who Is This Workshop For?

This workshop is suitable for Pilates instructors who want to deepen their understanding
of Reformer training, improve class delivery and create more effective, results-driven
client experiences.
